PAT testing is a process in the United Kingdom where electrical appliances are periodically tested for safety. Health and Safety regulations state that in the workplace, electrical appliances must be safe, to prevent harm to users of the appliance. Most plug in appliances require testing at regular intervals, to ensure the continual safety of the appliance. The interval between tests is determined by the type of appliance and the environment it is used in.
The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) requires “All electrical systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, any danger”. This is interpreted as covering the fixed electrical installation as well as portable and transportable equipment connected to it. The Regulations also state “It is the duty of every employer and self employed person to comply with the provision of these Regulations.”
Here at Electromech Contracts Ltd, we provide a full PAT testing service, based around the clients requirements, for ease of access and downtime of appliances e.t.c..
All plug in electrical appliances in the work place require testing. Including Computers, Monitors, Kitchen Appliances, Power Tools both 240V & 110V, Extension Leads, Transformers e.t.c. All appliances that pass the test are fitted with a Passed label, any items that fail are recorded and listed in the PAT testing pack, or repaired and re-tested where possible on clients request.
On completion of PAT testing, clients are presented with a full PAT testing record pack, in print to customer and also emailed on request.
